Mumbai: Class 8 student Mayank has created history by winning Rs 1 crore in Amitabh Bachchan’s quiz based reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 15’. Mayank, a resident of Mahendragarh, Haryana, won an amount of Rs 1 crore in ‘KBC Juniors Week’. The host of the show Amitabh Bachchan was very happy and impressed with Mayank’s performance. In the one crore question Mayank was asked, “Which European cartographer is credited with creating a map that named the newly discovered island ‘America’?”
The options given were- A: Abraham Ortelius, B: Gerardus Mercator, C: Giovanni Battista Agnes and D: Martin Waldseemler. Correct Answer: Martin Waldseemüller. To this question, Mayank used the rest of his lifeline ‘Ask the Expert’ and gave the correct answer – ‘Martin Waldseemler’.
Mayank started crying after winning such a huge amount and hugged his parents and the actor. Big B said, “Let me tell viewers that he is the youngest millionaire winner.” After this, for the seven crore question, he was asked, “Subedar NR Nikkam and Havildar Gajendra Singh were awarded the Order of the Red Star by Russia for delivering supplies to which city during the Second World War?”
The options were: A: Tabriz, B: Sidon, C: Batumi, D: Almaty. On this question, Mayank decided to quit the game and took 1 crore rupees. Tabriz gave the correct answer to the question of 7 crore rupees. Mayank said: “I feel very fortunate that I got the opportunity to showcase my knowledge at ‘KBC Juniors Week’ and play against Amitabh sir, who inspired me throughout.
He said, “Being the youngest contestant and winning such a huge amount is a proud moment for me and my family. We are big fans of the show and Bachchan sir. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank my parents for their constant guidance which helped me play well and achieve the 1 crore milestone.”
