Mela (1948): The first film ‘Mela’ was released in the year 1948, starring Dilip Kumar, Nargis, Jeevan, Rahman and Noor Jahan in lead roles. It was a romantic film, produced and directed by SU Sunny. The film was a box office hit upon its release and emerged as the fourth highest grossing film of 1948. All the songs of the film were also superhits, with one song ‘Gaye Ja Geet Milan Ke’ still famous among people today.
