As 2023 draws to a close, various brands such as Spotify, YouTube, Google and others are sharing their annual ‘rap’ reports and the top trending searches on them. Joining the list, Swiggy has released its annual food delivery report. This provides information about the consumer’s food preferences.

Swiggy joked in its report, “A user from Mumbai, who ordered food worth Rs 42.3 lakh (no, this is not CTC). Not only that, another person from Hyderabad spent Rs 6 lakh on idlis.
The report also revealed, “The host of the biggest party ordered 269 items from Jhansi.” Another person from Bhubaneswar ordered the most pizzas in a day. Can you guess how many pizzas the customer bought? 207!
In 2023, India ordered more than 7.7 million Gulab Jamuns during Durga Puja. Masala dosa was the most favorite among the vegetarian orders for all the nine days of Navratri.

Biryani continues to dominate the swiggy order in India. With the country ordering 2.5 biryani every second in 2023, the beloved dish received the accolade for the eighth year in a row. A resident of Hyderabad ordered 1,633 biryanis during the year, an average of over four biryanis per day.
During a tense India-Pakistan World Cup match in October, a biryani-loving family in Chandigarh ordered 70 plates at once. During this match, Swiggy averaged over 250 biryani orders per minute.
