Gauhar/Delhi: The Netflix show Delhi Crime Season 2 is actually based on the Kachha Baniya Gang. The show shows how the gang used to attack on moonlit nights, looting palatial homes and murdering the householders while they slept. The show is based on Moon Gazer, a chapter from former Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar’s book Khaki Files. Also, in this book he has also told how he was pressured to catch this gang and then how he solved the whole matter.

In the 1990s, pressure to catch gangs
Commissioner Neeraj Kumar has stated in the book that in the early 1990s, the pressure to catch the gang was very high. At that time, Neeraj Kumar was the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in South Delhi. Neeraj Kumar also states in the book that during 1990 and 1991 there was a rise in murders as well as burglaries, where people would break into houses and kill all the people who were sleeping. After this, they quietly ransacked the house and took away all the valuables.

Criminals wore undergarments
Neeraj Kumar has also stated in his book that all these criminals used to commit crimes wearing undergarments and especially they used to commit such crimes only on moonlit nights. If chased by the police, the escaping criminals would throw stones and flee under cover of darkness. It took three months for the Delhi Police to nab these criminals. Since then no such crime has taken place in Delhi.
