A Pakistani court has ordered the release of seized assets of former PM Nawaz Sharif in the Toshakha case

Islamabad:

An Islamabad court on Friday ordered authorities to release properties seized by former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif in the Toshakha case. ARY News has given this information. Judge Mohammad Bashir of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has given this order on the application of PML-N. The Supreme Court requested the court to freeze his properties which were seized by the Punjab provincial government after he was declared a proclaimed offender in the Toshakha case.

The court declared Nawaz Sharif a ‘proclaimed offender’ in the Toshakha case and issued a permanent arrest warrant for his continued non-appearance. According to ARY News, the court’s judge Asghar Ali ordered the seizure of Nawaz’s land, luxury goods. Seizure orders were issued for Sharif’s assets, including vehicles and accounts in local and foreign banks.

The court attached 1,650 kanals of agricultural land in Lahore and 102 kanals in Sheikhupura owned by Nawaz as well as his house in Murree. According to the report, three vehicles including a Land Cruiser and two Mercedes were found with him. Last month, the court granted bail to Nawaz Sharif in the Toshakha case.
