The Indian team is scheduled to tour South Africa next month
Cheteshwar Pujara is currently playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
New Delhi. The next month is very important for the Indian cricket team. Team India is scheduled to tour South Africa in December where they have to play 3 T20, 3 ODI and 2 Test series. The tour will start from December 10. Test series will be played after T20 and ODI. The biggest question now is whether the 35-year-old Cheteshwar Pujara will be able to return to the Test team? Pujara was dropped from the West Indies tour this year. After this, though he got a chance to play in the final of the World Test Championship, he failed there as well. After being a continuous flop, now questions are being raised about Pujara’s career.
Cheteshwar Pujara, once called the ‘wall’ of Team India’s Test team, is today struggling to defend his place. During the tour of West Indies, the Indian team opened the batting with Rohit Sharma and Yashaswi Jaiswal, while Shubman Gill was at number three. Because now Shreyas Iyer is also fit and he has shown his great form in the World Cup as well. Shreyas scored 2 consecutive centuries in the World Cup. With Shreyas fit, the Indian team has got another option. Iyer will be seen leading Team India in the last two matches of the ongoing T20 home series against South Africa.

WTC managed to score 41 runs in both the innings in the final
As for Pujara, he scored 14 runs in the first innings against Australia in the World Championship final at the Oval in June before returning to the pavilion with 27 runs in the second innings. India had high expectations from him in this Test but he failed. After this, Pujara went to England for the county. Even abroad, his bat remained quiet. In the county, he scored 32 and 23 while playing for Sussex in List A matches. Pujara scored 4, 51 and 26, 23 runs with his bat in the first-class matches against Leicestershire and Durham respectively. Pujara has played 103 Test matches for India in which he has scored 7195 runs with 19 centuries.
A flop in the County and Irani Cup
After returning from the county, Cheteshwar Pujara took part in the Irani Cup final last month in October, where he scored 29 runs in the first innings and 7 runs in the second innings against Rest of India while playing for Saurashtra. That means Pujara failed completely with the bat here too. Pujara has yet another golden opportunity to return to the team but the road will not be easy for him. Vijay Hazare Trophy is currently being organized in the country in which Pujara is playing for Saurashtra. He will have to play some big innings in a row in this 50 over tournament.
