Before the World Cup, a three-match ODI series will be played between India and Australia from September 22. The Indian squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia was announced on Monday. Senior players including captain Rohit Sharma, star batsman Virat Kohli, all-rounder Hardik Pandya and in-form spinner Kuldeep Yadav have been rested for the first two matches.
Ashwin has managed to return to the team after a long time. Former Indian batsman Abhinav Mukund has advised the Indian batsmen to be wary of Australian star bowlers Mitchell Starc and Adam Zampa in the ODI series. He believes that these two players will be the biggest threat for India.
Speaking to Sports18, Abhinav Mukund said that Zampa becomes more dangerous when he plays for Australia. Adam Zampa has taken 139 wickets in 83 ODIs and 73 wickets in 73 T20Is. Abhinav Mukund said, “Definitely, I think Zampa and Starc will be the biggest threat for India in the upcoming series. Zampa has not bowled that well when he has played in the IPL but he has looked more dangerous when he has played for Australia.
Abhinav Mukund feels that Zampa has always performed well against India and Rohit Sharma-Virat Kohli. Zampa has taken 31 wickets in 19 ODIs against India. Mukund said, “He has always done well against India. He has bowled well against Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. But it has to be faced.
The first ODI will be played in Mohali on September 22, the second in Indore on September 24 and the third and final match in Rajkot on September 27. The ODI World Cup will start from October 5.
