After Kovid, Nipah virus is now feared, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya says how are the preparations

Meanwhile, Mandvia said, “After Covid, the world is focused on health. We had three priorities. Send medical counters. Make people aware of health and focus on genome sequencing.” He said that the Central Health team reached Kozhikode in Kerala on Thursday. The team will hold a meeting with the district administration regarding the Nipah virus.

Mansukh Mandaviya said, “Nipah virus is slightly different from corona virus. Nipah virus does not spread that fast. It is spread by fruit bats. It has three symptoms, which include headache and fever. Today in India, world class virology Labs are available. Testing can be done immediately at the National Institute of Virology, Pune. We treat those who test positive as per our protocol. Those who do not test are treated differently.”

Five cases of Nipah have been reported in Kerala so far. The Central Health team reached Kozhikode in Kerala on Thursday. The team will hold a meeting with the district administration regarding the Nipah virus. “Also preparations are being made for genome sequencing in areas of Kerala,” said Mandaviya.

He said, “The Covid crisis has taught us a lot. We have learned a lot from it. We have understood what our weaknesses are and are trying to improve them. We have strengthened the surveillance system. What disease is a village today? However, after channel surveillance, its report comes to our commanding centre. Accordingly, an action plan is prepared.”

Mandaviya said that due to this system, the case of Nipah virus in Kozhikode, Kerala came to our notice in time. The ministry has also sent a team there.

Does North India also have a similar system? Responding to this question, the health minister said, “In all parts of the country, districts and block levels, we learned from the Covid crisis what we need to do. What things need to be fixed… We focused on those things. Only. We Ayushman Launched Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. It involves an expenditure of Rs 64 thousand crores. That is, an average expenditure of Rs 100 crores per district. With this expenditure we can work from block to district level, regional level to state level and up to the central level.” A series of laboratories are being prepared. Under this, government labs have also been arranged at the block level. Free testing is done in government labs.”

Mandaviya said that so far the beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat Yojana are 60 crores. Out of them, 24 crore people have been given Ayushman health cards. One card covers 70 percent of the household. Our government has created a different model for health. For us, health is not a business, but a service. In the service fortnight we expect people to engage in service work.
