Former Indian fast bowler and coach of Gujarat Titans in the IPL, Ashish Nehra has big things to say for Rinku Singh after India vs Australia’s first T20. Nehra says that if the KKR team does not retain Rinku Singh this time, the other 9 teams will try their best to include him in their camp. Rinku Singh’s stature as a finisher has grown a lot in recent times. After IPL 2023, he has played this role in several matches for India as well. He also played an innings of 22 runs in the first T20 in Visakhapatnam, though could not add the last six to his tally.

Ashish Nehra, speaking on Jio Cinemas after the match, told Rinku Singh, ‘He doesn’t need a scout now, because he has reached where he was meant to be. Once you are inside this circle (ground), sit outside and watch the rest. Be a scout or whatever. As he (Abhishek Nair) is saying KKR won’t drop you, I hope (KKR) will keep you, but if not then the other 9 teams won’t drop you either.

Nair said about Rinku, ‘I can’t say much, but Rinku Singh’s journey has been going on for the last 5-6 years. All eyes are now on Rinku Singh… but the change he has brought in his batting in the last 4-5 years, the change in his thinking, his fitness in training… there is a different passion in his mind. He is very clean and simple at heart.
Nair further said, ‘The growth I have seen goes to him. There are very few players who, after not playing in the IPL for three-four years, come and perform like that when you get a chance after four years, I think the credit goes to him. These have never broken. He couldn’t play IPL for a year due to injury, after that he called me and said, Sir, please take me, this time I will do very well. Then I said that KKR will not leave you.
