‘As a captain’.. Babar Azam’s best friend gets emotional, sings praises

New Delhi. Babar Azam, the Pakistani batsman who rose from zero to hero in the blink of an eye and has been compared to world great Virat Kohli. When he turned 25, the player was given the command of the team. Then how was such captaincy that Babar proved to be the second most successful captain after Imran Khan. Only 4 years of flying high came when the day came when Babar resigned from his captaincy. Now his teammate Mohammad Rizwan has reacted emotionally to his decision.

Under the captaincy of Babar Azam, Pakistan had a disappointing performance in the World Cup 2023. Here, when the Pakistan team was finishing their match after being out of the World Cup, there was an uproar in the team management. The issue of chief selector Inzamam ul Haq’s resignation was not resolved when Babar quit the captaincy of all three formats as soon as he reached home. Announcing his decision to step down as captain on X, he wrote, ‘I still vividly remember the moment when I got the call from PCB to captain Pakistan in 2019. The intention was always to perform better for the team and take it to greater heights. Reaching No.1 in ODI cricket was a brilliant effort from the entire team. Behind this was the sheer hard work of the players, coaching staff and team management. Today I am going to announce my resignation as the captain of Pakistan Cricket Team in all formats. It was a very difficult decision for me to make but I feel it is the right time, so I am taking this big step.

Mohammad Rizwan became emotional

Mohammad Rizwan also got emotional after leaving Babar Azam’s captaincy. He highly praised Babar Azam on X. Rizwan wrote, ‘Captain, you are a captain of heart. You are definitely one of the greatest batsmen Pakistan has ever seen. As a captain your honesty, love, integrity, thoughts and efforts for Pakistan are worth watching. May you shine for Pakistan, Amen.

Pakistan had a very disappointing performance in the World Cup. Before this, the Pakistan team had to face defeat in the Asia Cup as well. The team started with a win in the World Cup, but later 4 consecutive losses spoiled the performance of the Babar Brigade and the team had to be eliminated. In the meantime, some of Babur’s decisions were also questioned.
