Travis Head scored a century for Australia.
India gave Australia a target of 241 runs.
New Delhi. After 44 days and 47 matches, the winning team of the World Cup (World Cup 2023) has been announced. The title battle between India and Australia (IND vs AUS final) proved to be one-sided. Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first. Captain Rohit Sharma scored 47 runs from the Indian team and gave the team a great start. But after the fall of the hitman’s wicket, except for Virat, the top order fell apart like a pack of cards. After which there was a slowdown in runs.
Opener Shubman Gill could not even cross double figures. Apart from this, Shreyas Iyer, who scored a century in the last match, also failed to live up to expectations. Iyer returned to the pavilion after scoring just 4 runs. However, Virat Kohli played an innings of 54 runs off 63 balls, after which KL Rahul took the team to a fighting score. Rahul played a slow innings of 66 off 107 balls which included only one four. This innings saw the Blue Army somehow reach the mark of 240 runs and the entire responsibility fell on the shoulders of the lethal bowling attack of the Indian team.
A wall of Travis Head has been erected in front of India and the trophy
In batting, Australia started strongly by taking 15 runs in the first over. After this, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami took the wickets of 3 important batsmen and breathed life into the Kangaroo team. Bumrah hunted Marsh and Smith while Shami showed Warner the way to the pavilion. But Travis Head stood like a wall against India and the trophy. He executed a match winning innings of 130 runs off 120 balls. At the other end, Marnus Labuschenne put Team India in trouble with his smart innings. All of India’s strengths, including Bumrah, Shami and Jadeja, seemed to fail against both the batsmen.
Openers from Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar to Shubman Gill have flopped in World Cup finals, not batting in big matches.
Indian spinners did not get wickets
The final match proved to be the opposite of India’s expectations. Indian spinners did not get timely wickets on Ahmedabad pitch. Due to which the Australian team easily achieved the target of 241 runs and wrote a new history in the World Cup. The Kangaroo team won the sixth trophy by stopping India’s Vijayarath. In the final match, Australia won the match by 8 wickets. The Kangaroo team defeated India in the same manner in the final of the 2003 World Cup.
