New Delhi. The Australian team, which won the trophy by defeating the Indian cricket team in the ICC ODI World Cup final, has reached its home country. Veteran fast bowler Pat Cummins, who is captaining the team, is getting a lot of praise. After losing two matches in a row, Australia came back and won all the matches and won the trophy.
Australian batsman Marnus Labuschran said he had never seen anyone bowl the way Pat Cummins bowled in the World Cup final against India. Australia won the final by six wickets to win their record sixth title. Cummins took two wickets in 10 overs with his economy rate being the best. He picked up the wickets of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer which saw the Indian team bundle out for 240 runs. “I think that day was definitely Pat’s best day with the ball,” Labuschenne told Sen Radio.
He said, “I have never seen anyone bowl like Cummins, he bowled the right ball at the right time. I have never seen that from a middle over bowler, especially a fast bowler. That’s why a lot of credit goes to him.
Labusche scored an unbeaten half-century in the final. He also praised coach Andrew Macdonald’s strategy making and said that the team analyst put India under pressure by planning. “Strategically, Andrew Macdonald and our analyst got the toss right first and then by doing well in different situations we took Indian wickets early and then put pressure on their bowlers,” said Labusche.
He said, “Our plan was to take five wickets in 30 overs and the Australian bowlers did just that. The bowlers performed brilliantly with Pat leading the way. Labusche also said that the coach had full faith in the players, which created a good atmosphere in the dressing room. He said, “His coaching record speaks for itself. They never doubted us, I think that created a good atmosphere. He and Pat work well together.
