New Delhi. After a brilliant start to the Asia Cup, the Pakistan cricket team has reached a position it never imagined. The final of the tournament is to be played between India and Sri Lanka. In the last Super 4 match, the Bangladesh team defeated the Indian team and departed with honor. The win led to something that would have made the Pakistani players gag.
When Asia Cup hosts Pakistan entered the tournament, people were touting them as the favorites to win. The team started the tournament by beating Nepal by a wide margin at home but ended in disgrace. Pakistan had earlier won the Super 4 against Bangladesh and the team bowed their heads in shame. In the second Super 4, India beat Pakistan by 228 runs and then lost to Sri Lanka in the last over as well.
Bangladesh spoiled Pakistan
In the first match of Super 4, Pakistan defeated the Bangladesh team. While winning against India in the last Super 4 match, the team did something that would give them a respectable send off. Pakistan and Bangladesh drew 1-1 in the Super 4 but Babar Azam’s side finished bottom of the points table while Shakib Al Hasan’s side finished third.
Asia Cup Points Table
Despite a promising start, the Pakistan team finished last in the Asia Cup. Despite an average performance from the Bangladesh team, they finished the tournament in third place. The Sri Lankan team that reached the final was ranked second while the Indian team was ranked number one after defeating Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
