Big decision by ICC, ban imposed on former player who played 300 international matches

Marlon Samuels: Former West Indies cricketer Marlon Samuels has been banned from cricket for 6 years by the ICC. The ban has come into effect from 11 November 2023. Let us tell you that Samuels has already retired from cricket. Samuels was charged by the ICC – as an anti-corruption officer appointed under the ECB Code – with a total of four charges in September 2021 and was later found guilty of the offenses in August this year.

In September 2021, the International Cricket Council (ICC), in its role as anti-corruption officer appointed under the ECB’s anti-corruption code, accused Samuels of violating four rules of the anti-corruption code during the T0 League in 2019. Samuels exercised his right to a hearing before the tribunal, after which the 42-year-old was found guilty.

In his international career, Samuels played 71 Tests, 207 ODI Internationals and 67 T20 Internationals in which he scored 11,134 runs and took 152 wickets. He retired from international cricket in November 2020. The former top-order batsman was found guilty of violating rules 2.4.2, 2.4.3, 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 of the code of conduct.
