New Delhi. Rahul Dravid will remain the coach of Team India. BCCI has announced this. The move is considered crucial for the T20 World Cup to be held in June 2024. Dravid’s tenure ended after World Cup 2023. After this, there was talk of making former fast bowler Ashish Nehra the coach of the T20 team, but he turned it down. Under Dravid’s coaching, the Indian team also reached the final of the World Test Championship. Team India is currently playing a T20 series at home against Australia. VVS Laxman has been roped in as the coach for this series. The team is scheduled to tour South Africa next month. Dravid will make a comeback from this series. The series will consist of 3 T20s, 3 ODIs and 2 Tests. Apart from Dravid, the tenure of the entire support staff has also been extended. Which includes batting coach Vikram Rathore, bowling coach Pas Mhambre and fielding coach T Dilip.
After becoming the coach again, Rahul Dravid said, the last two years with Team India have been memorable. We have seen ups and downs together and I have supported everyone along this journey. I’m really proud of the culture we’ve established in the dressing room. He said that the atmosphere in the team’s dressing room does not change with victory or defeat. The skill and talent we have in our team is unparalleled.
Rahul Dravid said that I would like to thank the BCCI and its officials for the faith reposed in him. During coaching I have to stay out of the house for a long time. I cannot forget the support I got from my family in such a situation. We are ready for new challenges after the World Cup.
