Domestic markets saw an uptick in early trade on Thursday amid lower crude oil prices. BSE’s 30-share index Sensex rose 182.62 points to 66,205.86 in early trade, Nifty gained 54.35 points to 19,866.20. Shares of Wipro, Asian Paints, Nestlé, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv, IndusInd Bank and ITC gained among the Sensex companies.
Shares of Ultratech Cement and Hindustan Unilever were lower. Elsewhere in Asian markets, China’s Shanghai Composite gained while South Korea’s Kospi and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined. American markets closed on a positive note on Wednesday. Global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading 1.33 percent lower at $80.87 a barrel. According to stock market data, on Wednesday Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) invested Rs. 306.56 crore worth of shares were sold.
