The county’s Robbery and Burglary Unit (RBU) has reported an increase in residential burglaries in the last two weeks, with mainly ‘Indian American’ victims being targeted, the report said. The thefts took place in broad daylight and the RBU believes the suspects are part of a larger organized group operating across the region. Anu, who recently became a mother, moved to the area a few months ago. “When we moved here I thought this neighborhood was very safe, but it doesn’t feel that way anymore,” he said.
“We have a dog, but I am thinking of getting another dog, a guard dog, for my security,” said Anu’s husband Ram. He told KOMO News that he now carries non-lethal weapons like pepper spray as part of his home security, as well as installing security cameras, which he has spent thousands of dollars on.
“Most Indians are not US citizens, so they cannot own weapons, which is why they are targeting them,” Ram said.
