The Israeli military has told international news organizations Reuters and Agence France-Presse that it cannot guarantee the safety of its journalists working in the Gaza Strip, which has been under Israeli bombardment and siege for nearly three weeks.

According to Reuters Gaza, the Palestinian territory ruled by the terrorist group Hamas, has been under bombardment since October 7. Because Hamas gunmen crossed the Gaza border into Israel on October 7 and killed nearly 1,400 people. Gaza’s health ministry says the Israeli attack has killed nearly 7,000 people.
The Israel Defense Forces wrote to Reuters and AFP this week seeking assurances that their journalists in Gaza would not be targeted by Israeli strikes.
“The IDF is targeting all of Hamas’ military activities throughout Gaza. But Hamas has deliberately conducted military operations “around journalists and civilians,” the IDF letter said.
The IDF also reported that its high-intensity strikes on Hamas targets could damage nearby buildings and that Hamas rockets could also misfire and kill people inside Gaza.
“Under these circumstances, we cannot guarantee the safety of your personnel, and urge you to take all necessary measures to protect them,” the IDF letter said.
Hamas did not comment when asked about the IDF’s accusation that it had launched military operations near where journalists live in Gaza.
