The Indian women’s cricket team created history by defeating Australia by eight wickets on the fourth day in the only Test cricket match on Sunday. The Indian women’s team registered its historic first win against the mighty Australian team in the only Test. This is India’s first win against Australia in 11 Tests. After this win, instead of doing a photoshoot with the trophy, Harmanpreet Kaur once again presented the trophy to Test cricket debutant Richa Ghosh, who also played an important role in India’s victory.
BCCI Women shared a video on X, in which captain Harmanpreet Kaur, after receiving the trophy, goes straight to the team and gives the trophy to Richa Ghosh, who is standing in the middle, and then she herself stands at the end.
India got a target of 75 runs which they achieved by scoring 75 runs for two wickets in the 19th over. Opener Smriti Mandhana remained unbeaten scoring 38 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues was also unbeaten scoring 12 runs. The Indian women’s team was playing more than one Test in a season on home soil for the first time since 1995 and the team managed to dominate the entire match against Australia. This is India’s first win against Australia in 11 Tests.
Earlier, India also defeated the England women’s team by a huge margin of 347 runs in the only Test. This was the biggest win by any team against England in terms of runs in Test cricket.
