Chaos in Pakistan cricket ahead of Australia tour, Babar Azam resigns

New Delhi. Babar Azam has resigned from the captaincy of Pakistan. After returning home after a poor performance in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, Babar has given up captaincy in all three formats. The team captained by Babar could not even reach the semi-finals of the World Cup. Babar failed in both departments as a captain and a batsman. After the poor performance of the Pakistan team in the World Cup, questions were raised on Babar’s captaincy. After returning from India, first the bowling coach was sacked, then the entire selection committee was sacked and now after Babar resigned from the captaincy, there has been an earthquake in Pakistan cricket.

Pakistan Cricket Team (PCB) is scheduled to tour Australia in December. The Babar Azam-led Pakistan team is ranked fifth in the ICC Cricket World Cup with 4 wins and 5 losses. Babar will continue to play as a player
Babar Azam announced his resignation through social media. He said that as a player he will continue to serve the Pakistan team. Babar took charge of the Pakistan team in 2019. He is leaving the captaincy after 4 years. Under his captaincy, the Pakistani team became number one in ODIs. He was the number one batsman in ODIs but recently Shubman Gill took away the top spot from him.

Under Babar’s leadership, Pakistan won 42 out of 71 T20Is while losing 23. 6 matches were drawn. The winning percentage of Pakistan team in T20 was 64.61.
