Modi government is going to implement a new system for Aadhaar card. Under this, the verification of the applicants for the new Aadhaar card will be done by the state government. This will be on the lines of passport verification. A new Aadhaar card will be issued only after the approval of the SDM level officer. It has also started in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, Unique Identification Authority of India was doing the verification.
New regime for those who complete 18 years: According to the new instructions of the Unique Identification Authority of India, this process will be applicable only for youth who have completed the age of 18 years. Once the Aadhaar card is generated, they can also do all types of updates as per the normal process. At the same time people who already have Aadhaar cards will not have to go through this new system.
State Govt Permission Mandatory: According to the instructions, the government will nominate Additional District Magistrate at the district level and SDM at the sub-division level for physical verification of the application. The card will be issued only after completion of the verification process by these designated officials. District Head Post Office and other Aadhaar centers will be specially selected for physical verification.
Aadhaar may take up to 180 days to generate: Under the new system, it may take up to 180 days to issue a new Aadhaar. Under this, after Aadhaar enrollment (application), UIDAI will check the data quality and then send the application to the Seva Plus portal. SDM will verify the applications received on the portal. All the documents submitted by the applicant will be physically verified. After this permission will be given to issue Aadhaar from SDM level. If the documents are found to be suspicious or incorrect, the application will be rejected.
It is mandatory to be present at the venue: According to the instructions, it will be mandatory for the applicant to be present at the venue during the physical verification. For this, applicants residing in other states and union territories will be advised to return to their home state for verification.
