Delhi liquor scam: Manish Sisodia’s SC shock, bail review plea rejected

Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has received a big blow in the Delhi liquor scam case. Dismissing his review petition, the Supreme Court again refused to grant bail. The Supreme Court refused to reconsider the decision not to grant bail. The court said that the review petition has no merit. Justice Sanjeev Khand and Justice SVN Bhati upheld the October 30 decision rejecting the bail plea. Let us tell you that a petition was filed by Manish Sisodia seeking reconsideration of the decision given by the Supreme Court.

Recently, on Monday, a Delhi court extended the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia till January 10, 2024 in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam. Special Judge M.K. Nagpal also sought response from Sisodia and other accused on a plea filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seeking permission to file additional documents in the case. The judge has directed the accused to respond to the plea by January 10.

The court also directed the ED to provide copies of additional 540 pages of documents to the accused before the next hearing on January 10. During the proceedings, the court adjourned the hearing on a plea by the ED seeking a daily hearing in the case. The judge said that the case is currently in the stage of verification of documents and the trial will begin after the completion of this stage and the framing of charges against the accused persons.

Let us tell you that Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26 for his alleged role in corruption in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy 2020-21. The AAP leader has been in judicial custody since then. Sisodia was arrested on March 9 in a money laundering case related to a CBI FIR after the ED interrogated him in Tihar Jail.
