The journey to UPSC was not easy for IAS officer Soumya. During this time he had to face many problems. Soumya Sharma appeared in the UPSC exam in the year 2017, in which she cleared the exam in the first attempt. Let us tell you that he succeeded in this exam with 9th rank in all India.
Soumya Sharma was born in Delhi to doctor parents. She was only 11 years old when her hearing began to decline. By the age of 16, he had completely lost his hearing. He was treated for a long time, but to no avail. Let us tell you that he was advised to use hearing aids to hear properly. Now she is using this to listen properly.
Losing his hearing at the age of 16 was a big blow for him, but he did not let his courage break and worked hard in school. After which he took admission in National Law School to study law.
After graduation in law, he made headlines when he wrote a letter to the Delhi High Court seeking inclusion of hearing disability in the disability quota. Let us tell you that hearing was not included in the disabled quota at that time.
Let us tell you that after completing her graduation, Soumya thought of giving the UPSC exam. After which he decided that he will appear for this exam and started preparing. Let us tell you that he took the UPSC exam for the first time in the year 2017, in which he cleared the exam in the first attempt and got the post of IAS officer.
