It was Bumrah who dismissed Mahendra Singh Dhoni in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match in 2015, after which he got a place in Team India a few days later. He played his first ODI against Australia on 23 January 2016, in which he conceded 40 runs while bowling 10 overs and also took 2 wickets.
