Musk and Netanyahu will meet today
No statement of Elon Musk has come out regarding the meeting with the Prime Minister of Israel. Spokespersons for Tesla and X also did not comment on the matter. Elon Musk’s visit comes as Gaza is under a four-day ceasefire under an agreement between Israel and Hamas.
Musk against anti-Semitism
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu met with Elon Musk in California on September 18. He was urged to strike a balance between protecting free expression and combating hate speech related to the spread of anti-Semitic content on Twitter. In response, Musk said he was against anti-Semitism. He is against anything that promotes hatred and conflict.” Reiterating his earlier statements, he said X will not promote hate speech.
Musk was criticized after endorsing a post
During Netanyahu’s visit to California, before the war, about 200 people protested the Netanyahu government’s attempts to curb the powers of the Israeli courts. The people gathered outside Tesla’s California factory, where a meeting was held. After this, on November 15, Elon Musk agreed with a post on X that falsely claimed that Jewish people were spreading hatred against white people. Musk’s statement was roundly criticized. The White House also condemned Musk’s statement, calling it a “vile promotion of anti-Semitic and racist hatred” that “goes against our core values as Americans.”
Angered by Musk’s statement, several major American companies, including Walt Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery and NBCUniversal parent Comcast, stopped their advertising on X. Now Musk is going to meet the Israeli PM. Let us tell you that anti-Semitism and Islamophobia have increased all over the world, including America, including the war between Israel and Hamas.
Anti-Semitism is on the rise in America
As the war escalated, anti-Semitic incidents in the US rose nearly 400% from a year earlier, according to the Anti-Defamation League, a non-profit organization that fights anti-Semitism. While Musk says X should be a platform for people to post opinions, the company will ban some posts that violate their policies.
