End of career… Pujara-Rahane dropped, fans react

New Delhi. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squad for the upcoming tour of South Africa. Team India will tour South Africa next month i.e. in December. In this tour, Team India has to play 3 T20, 3 ODI and 2 Test series. Indian selectors have selected the squad for all three formats. Veteran batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane have been dropped from the Test squad. After the drop of both the players from Team India, people are reacting differently. Some talked about the end of his career while some said BCCI should at least give him a farewell match.

35-year-old Cheteshwar Pujara has been to South Africa 4 times while Ajinkya Rahane has also been to South Africa 3 times (IND vs SA). Cheteshwar Pujara played his last Test match this year against Australia in the final of the World Test Championship. Pujara’s performance in the WTC finals was not good. After which he was dropped from the West Indies tour.

Rahane’s record in South Africa
Right-handed batsman Ajinkya Rahane was last seen playing a Test this year on the tour of West Indies. Rahane, who was the vice-captain of the Test team, failed to perform as expected in the West Indies. Rahane was given a chance in the Test team after Shreyas Iyer’s injury but could not make a memorable comeback series. Now Shreyas Iyer is fit and back in the team. In such a situation, Rahane had to leave space for Shreyas.

Pujara’s record in South Africa
Cheteshwar Pujara has scored 535 runs in 10 Test matches played in South Africa. During this time he has scored a century and 3 fifties. While Rahane has scored 402 runs in 6 Tests with the help of 3 half-centuries. Rahane’s best score in South Africa is 96 runs while Pujara’s individual best is 153 runs.
