Gus Atkinson, who took 20 wickets at an average of 20.20 in five County Championship matches last summer to help his side win a second consecutive title, has also been included in the Test squad for the first time. Ben Stokes, who underwent knee surgery after the World Cup, will lead the team but it remains to be seen whether the all-rounder bowls.
Wicketkeeper batsman Ben Fox, who failed to make the Ashes squad, has returned to the squad. Experienced James Anderson, Ollie Robinson, Atkinson and Mark Wood are the top four fast bowlers in the team. The five-Test series will begin on January 25 in Hyderabad.

Who is Shoaib Bashir?
20-year-old young spinner Shoaib Bashir has also been included in the squad for the Test series against India. Shoaib Bashir has shocked England with his performance in first class cricket. In the County Championship, Bashir created a stir with his bowling and managed to take a total of 10 wickets. After seeing his bowling, the English board decided to take him to a training camp in UAE. Bashir started playing cricket at the age of 9. At the age of 17, he got a chance to play for Berkshire’s under-18 team. He later joined Somerset, where he got an opportunity to make his first-class cricket debut. Bashir made his first-class cricket debut at the age of 19.
