Speaking to Star Sports, Finch said, ‘What’s going through Rohit Sharma’s mind is to give the team the fastest possible start. See, as the tournament progresses, the slow down of wickets is inevitable. So in such a situation it becomes very important to put pressure on the opposing team in the opening overs. I think this has changed the mindset of the bowlers. The entire mindset of the opposing bowlers changes before the game even begins. Because they know that Rohit is going to play open to them. So, before the game starts, the panic button is activated in the opposing team. This is the reason why any team goes into defensive mode.
The Indian team has been very successful in this tournament so far. India has performed brilliantly in 9 league matches so far. Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden said that the way Rohit is batting is benefiting the middle order of Team India a lot and because of this the middle order batsmen are also getting a chance to improve their innings.
