Naveen Patnaik, former private secretary to the Chief Minister of Odisha, has now got a place in his cabinet. IAS VK Pandian has got the status of Cabinet Minister of Odisha. He had taken voluntary retirement as Private Secretary to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik a day earlier. Now he has got the status of Cabinet Minister of Odisha. VK Pandian suddenly took VRS and his application was also accepted by the Centre. Since then there were speculations that he might enter politics. Now he has been given the status of Cabinet Minister of Odisha.

VK Pandian became the Cabinet Minister of Odisha
VK Pandian had applied for voluntary retirement a day earlier. A day after that he was given the status of a cabinet minister in the state government. An order issued by Odisha’s Department of General Administration and Public Grievances said that the IAS officer has been appointed as the chairman of the state government’s 5T (Transformation Initiative) and New Odisha Scheme. He has been given the status of a cabinet minister.According to news agency PTI, sources in the ruling BJD said that VK Pandian may join the party and is likely to be given a bigger role ahead of next year’s assembly elections.
How to become a confidant of CM Naveen Patnaik?
VK Pandian is a 2000-batch IAS officer of Odisha cadre, started his career as Sub-Collector of Dharamgarh in Kalahandi. In 2005 he was appointed as the Collector of Mayurbhanj and then in 2007 he was made the Collector of Ganjam. It was during his posting in Ganjam that he became a trusted officer of CM Patnaik. VK Pandian joined the Chief Minister’s office in 2011 and was later promoted as Naveen Patnaik’s private secretary. BJD opponents taunted VK Pandian for getting responsibility in the state government. He is accused of abusing his position as a bureaucrat for political gain.
