Former South African Test captain Dean Elgar has announced his retirement from international cricket. The two-match Test series against India will be the last Test series of his career. The two-match Test series between India and South Africa is scheduled to begin on December 26 on Boxing Day. This means that Dean Elgar will not tour New Zealand with the South Africa Test team next year. Dean Elgar has so far played 84 Tests and 8 One Day Internationals for South Africa. Elgar has scored a total of 5146 runs at an average of 37.02 in 84 Test matches, during which he has scored 13 centuries with the bat.
