A native of Bihar, Garima Lohia grew up in a business family. He was born in Buxar. Being a business family, there was always an atmosphere of learning in the house. She excelled in studies right from the start, after completing her schooling she obtained a degree in Accounting from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi in the year 2020. While graduating, Garima realized that she had to appear for the UPSC exam, after which she started preparing for the exam.

When Garima decided to prepare for UPSC, she did not take any coaching due to the nationwide lockdown due to Kovid-19. Lockdown was engaged. In such a situation he prepared only with the help of self study. At that time he started his preparation with some basic books and internet. He also participated in men’s test series to improve his skills. Along with this, he carefully analyzed the UPSC previous year question papers and focused on his writing.

When she took the UPSC exam for the first time in the year 2021, she could not clear it. However, he did not see this failure as a defeat and decided to take the exam a second time.

Before giving the UPSC exam for the second time, she increased her study time and started studying for 12 hours a day. In the year 2022, Garima took the UPSC exam for the second time and secured the second position. This was nothing short of a dream for him.

He said, “I studied at home. I used to study from 9 pm to 9 am.” Let me tell you, during this time she used to take breaks in between to calm her mind.
