New Delhi. Indian cricket team will play home T20 series against Australia (IND vs AUS) after ICC World Cup 2023. Senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah can be rested in this series. Hardik Pandya is out of all World Cup matches due to injury. If his injury goes deeper, he will not be seen in the T20I series against Australia. Rituraj Gaekwad can take over the captaincy in this series. But now the news is coming that Suryakumar Yadav is also in the race for the captaincy.
According to a PTI report, any one of Suryakumar Yadav and Rituraj Gaekwad can captain the T20 series against Australia. A BCCI source was quoted by PTI as saying, “Hardik Pandya is not fully fit yet. It is difficult for them to play against Australia. The chances of Hardik being seen in the South Africa series are high. Suryakumar Yadav or Ruturaj Gaikwad are the frontrunners to replace Hardik.”

Suryakumar Yadav has not captained India in any match till date. If he gets the chance, he will be seen leading Team India for the first time. Suryakumar has played a total of 53 T20 matches for India so far. In which he has scored more than 1800 runs. Surya has also scored 3 centuries in T20. Surya will get a big chance to show his talent if he gets the chance to become the captain.
