The Israel-Gaza war has forced a large number of Palestinians to flee.

Gaza’s Hamas government said on Saturday that the death toll in fighting between Israeli troops and Hamas in the Palestinian territory since October 7 had reached 12,300. The Hamas government said the dead included more than 5,000 children, 3,300 women and more than 30,000 wounded, according to AFP. The Hamas government’s health ministry previously said it could no longer provide an exact number because bodies could not be recovered due to intense fighting.

On the other hand, hundreds of people left Gaza’s Al Shifa Hospital on foot on Saturday. An AFP reporter at the scene saw people leaving. The director of the hospital said that the Israeli army had ordered the hospital to be evacuated. After this Al-Shifa Hospital was evacuated.
Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry said in a statement that 120 wounded were still in hospital. Apart from this, there are also premature babies whose number is not yet known. She said she has been in touch with the Red Cross about the children. Officials said some medical staff have been deployed to take care of people who cannot be taken to hospital.
The Israeli army has refused to order the evacuation. “The Army has accepted the request of the Director of Shifa Hospital to make it possible for those who were in the hospital and wanted to leave,” the Army said in a statement. The United Nations estimates that 2,300 patients, staff and displaced Palestinians were taking shelter at al-Shifa hospital before Israeli troops arrived on Wednesday.
