Before becoming an IAS officer, Nandini KR worked as an Indian Revenue Service probationary officer. It has always been his dream IAS was to become an officer. For which he filled the UPSC exam form 4 times.
Nandini hails from Kambodi village in Kolar district of Karnataka. His father works as an assistant school master in a government high school. Her mother was also a teacher, but she gave up her job for her children’s education. Both parents are involved in the field of education, so Nandin’s education at home was taken very seriously. She was good at studies right from the start. Nandini graduated in Civil Engineering from MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru and won a gold medal. He did his schooling in Kannada medium from Thimayya Vidyalaya, Kolar.
Nandini made her first attempt in 2013. However, she could not clear the prelims exam. She knew that her UPSC preparation was not strong and she did not have proper guidance. After failing UPSC the first time, she did not get discouraged and decided to take the UPSC exam a second time.
While preparing for the second UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2014, Nandini started working as an Assistant Engineer in the Karnataka Public Works Department. This time he started basic preparation for UPSC by reading NCERT and news papers. Let us tell you that his optional subject was Kannada literature. This time he cleared the prelims and mains. He also cleared the interview, but his marks were not good enough to get the IAS post. their choice IRS (Customs and Excise).
Nandini wanted to improve her rank so that she could get an IAS post. For this he decided to take the UPSC exam for the third time, but fate had something else in store for him. After the prelims exam she was selected for the mains exam, but could not appear in the mains exam. On the day of the mains exam she fell ill with dengue and had to miss the UPSC mains exam. Nandini felt that all her dreams were shattered, but she did not give up and decided to take the UPSC exam for the fourth time.
For UPSC’s fourth attempt, Nandini made a time table that had 8 hours of sleep and one hour of play time. She worked hard and cleared the UPSC exam. This time he couldn’t believe it when he saw the results. His name topped the UPSC 2016 final list. This time his rank was 1st.
He secured 55.3% marks. Let us tell you that the UPSC exam is conducted for a total of 2,025 marks, out of which Nandini scored 927 in the mains and 193 in the interview i.e. a total of 1,120 marks.
