Hamas tunnel found in Al Shifa hospital in Gaza: Israeli army claims

Israel and Hamas have been at war for over a month now. Meanwhile, the Israeli army has intensified an ongoing operation at Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza. Recently, a spokesperson for the IDF i.e. Israel Defense Forces issued a statement saying that they had received a cache of weapons from Al Shifa Hospital.

Important information regarding the case:

  1. More than half of Gaza’s hospitals are no longer functional due to the ongoing war. Israel has launched a special operation over Al-Shifa Hospital. It claims that Hamas was using the hospital as its base.

  2. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alleged that the hostages may also be being held at Al-Shifa Hospital. “We had strong indications that he was being held at Shifa Hospital, which is one of the reasons we entered the hospital,” he told “CBS Evening News.”

  3. Israel said its forces were searching al-Shifa “one building at a time” and claimed they found the body of a female hostage in a nearby building.

  4. Despite ongoing negotiations for the release of some in exchange for a ceasefire, little news is emerging regarding the hostages.

  5. Qatar, where Hamas has political offices, and Egypt are mediating the talks. Egypt’s foreign minister said on Thursday that the situation is very fragile.

  6. Israeli PM Netanyahu said Israel is making all possible efforts to protect civilians from harm during the fight against Hamas in Gaza.

  7. Israel has vowed to eliminate Hamas in response to the group’s Oct. 7 attack, which killed 1,200 people, most of them civilians, and took nearly 240 hostage, according to Israeli officials.

  8. Israel and Hamas have been at war for over a month now. Meanwhile, the United Nations has repeatedly asked Israel to abide by the laws of war.

  9. More than 11 thousand people have died in Israel’s attack on Gaza. Among the dead are mainly women and children.

  10. The United Nations warned that cutting off communications in Gaza would add to the hardships of civilians. Efforts to distribute aid will be complicated and supplies will be looted.
