Higher Pension: There will be an opportunity to amend the rejected application, the employer will have to inform the employee of the reason for the rejection.

Read on the application

EPFO members can track applications made for higher pension under Employees Pension Scheme (EPS). This facility has been launched on the EPFO portal. If the application is stuck then you can start the process of repairing it. One month time will be given for this. At the same time, if an employee’s application is rejected by the employer, he should be told the reason. The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has recently issued instructions in this regard.

Approval of all employers is required: As per the instructions, before approving the application by EPFO, it is sent to all employers (old or present) for verification and approval at their level. Approval in this regard shall be mandatory for all employers. For higher pension the employer has to verify the information submitted by the employee. The employer can approve or reject the application. If the application is rejected, the reason for it should be clearly communicated to the applicant. Employers have until September 30 to complete the process from their end. This can be seen as a fixed timeline for review and verification of applications by employers.

An application may be rejected for the following reasons: Employees may face two situations. One, the former employer may reject the application even if the documents are correct. Second, the previous employer may not have reviewed the application yet. Due to this, EPFO may reject the application for higher pension or delay the acceptance process.

Member will have this option

When an employee tracks the status of application for higher pension, it will be shown on EPFO’s member services portal.
