Rajasthan’s Hiralal Samaria has become the country’s first Dalit Chief Information Commissioner (Chief Information Commissioner Hiralal Samaria). President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath as Chief Information Commissioner to Information Commissioner Hiralal Samaria at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Hiralal Samaria was currently serving as Information Commissioner. He has also worked as Secretary in the Ministry of Labor and Employment. Now he has been made Chief Information Commissioner.

Who is Hiralal Samaria?

Hiralal Samaria is the first Dalit CIC of the country. He was born in Pahari, a remote and small village in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan. He is a 1985 batch IAS officer. Hiralal Samaria was sworn in as the Chief Information Commissioner of the Central Information Commission in a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today at 10 am. The post of Chief Information Commissioner was vacant after YK Sinha’s tenure ended on October 3. Now the country has got its first Dalit Chief Information Commissioner.

Where did Hiralal Samaria serve?

Hiralal Samaria was born on 14 September 1960 in a small hill village near Bharatpur, Rajasthan. He has studied BE Civil (Hons) from University of Rajasthan. Till now he is Secretary and Additional in Ministry of Labor and Employment. Worked on the post of secretary. Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, Telangana, Transmission Corporation of A.P. (Transco), Commissioner in Andhra Pradesh Transport Department, Principal Secretary in BC Welfare Department, Hyderabad.
