Dearness Allowance News: There is good news for some central employees who are getting salary as per 6th Pay Commission and 5th Pay Commission. Indeed, the government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of such employees. Let us tell you that in the month of October, the DA of the central employees under the Seventh Pay Commission was increased.
How much DA increased: For employees of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) covered under the Sixth Pay Commission Dearness Allowance The amount on basic pay has been increased to 230% from the existing 221%. That means there has been an increase of 9 percent. The revised rate of Dearness Allowance will be applicable from July 1, 2023. Similarly, the dearness allowance of the employees covered by the Fifth Pay Commission has also been increased. There are two categories of employees whose allowances have increased.
Employees who are not allowed the benefit of 50% merger of DA with basic pay. The DA for those employees may be increased to 477% from the current 462%. At the same time, employees who have been given the benefit of merger of 50% DA with basic pay. The DA payable to such employees may be increased to 427% from the existing 412%. Thus DA has increased by 15 percent.
How much DA increased in October: Last October, according to the Seventh Central Pay Commission, dearness allowance and dearness relief for salaried central government employees and pensioners were increased from 42% to 46%. The revised rates will be effective from July 1, 2023.
