India vs Australia, Final:
New Delhi:
India’s great cricketer Gundappa Vishwanath believes that star batsman Virat Kohli has set a record by scoring his 50th ODI century that no one can even come close to. Kohli surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s feat of 49 centuries in ODIs with 117 runs in the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand on Wednesday and took India to the final for the first time since 2011. Vishwanath said, ‘Some time ago I said that if anyone can come close to Sachin’s century, it will be Kohli. I did not expect that he would break this record as well. He said, ‘He is so consistent that look everyone is talking about his century, but the way he scored runs close to 70 and 80 is his consistency. Looking at the way he is playing cricket, it seems that he still has a lot of cricket left in him.

Vishwanath said, ‘There are not many players who can come close to him, even though Rohit Sharma has more than 30 centuries, he has a long way to go to come close to him. I cannot see anyone approaching them. He has achieved a huge feat by scoring one century more than Sachin. In addition to 50 centuries in ODIs, Kohli has scored 29 centuries in Tests and one century in T20 Internationals, taking his tally from 100 to 80. In the semi-final, Kohli also became the first batsman to score more than 700 runs in a World Cup while the final is still pending.
Vishwanath said, ‘I am not comparing him with Sachin because both are different types of players, there is no comparison but both are great, absolute legends. The best part is that they know what they are doing. Sachin knew what he was doing and Kohli has said that he is my guru and he is following his path. He said, “Kohli’s batting is fantastic.” Tendulkar has scored 49 centuries in ODIs and 51 centuries in Tests and is still the only batsman with a century to his name.
On whether Kohli can break Tendulkar’s record of 100 international centuries, Vishwanath said, ‘It depends on how many Test matches we play. There are some Tests against South Africa and England, but you can’t score a century in all matches but he is capable of doing it. should.’ Vishwanath praised KL Rahul for giving sound judgment in decisions regarding wicketkeeping and DRS and said, ‘Rahul is not a regular wicketkeeper for India, but no one has questioned his wicketkeeping. Means he is doing good wicketkeeping.
Rahul has contributed not only with the bat but also by making the right decisions on DRS. India have so far escaped wrongful referrals five times due to their correct decisions during the World Cup. Vishwanath said, ‘It is beneficial for the team. MS Dhoni was the captain and he was mostly right in the DRS decisions, but here Rahul is the wicketkeeper and Rohit is the captain. Rohit is not always consistent with the ball which is why he has to seek the help of Rahul who gives absolutely correct advice. This is a good thing.
