In the India vs Australia third T20 international, opener Ruturaj Gaekwad scored an unbeaten 123, on the basis of which Team India set Australia a target of 223 runs to win. With Australia needing 43 runs to win from the last two overs, Glenn Maxwell and captain Matthew Wade combined to give Australia a surprise win. Akshar Patel gave 22 runs in the 19th over while the famous Krishna gave Australia the gift of victory by giving 23 runs in the 20th over. After the match, the opening batsman defended the bowlers due to which Rituraj’s century went in vain. Rituraj said that with the amount of mist on the ground, no target was difficult for him.

The Indian bowlers conceded 80 runs in the last five overs and despite scoring 222 runs, the hosts were defeated. Glenn Maxwell scored 23 runs in the last over of the famous Krishna. Krishna conceded 68 runs in four overs and did not get a single wicket. Gaekwad said in the post-match press conference, ‘I don’t think this is a matter of concern. It looked as if we were bowling with a wet ball. It was very difficult for the bowlers.

He said, ‘In such conditions, the over could have been made at 12, 13 or even 14 runs. So this is not a concern. The situation was difficult and we have to accept it and move on. From Australia, Glenn Maxwell scored an unbeaten 104 off 48 balls. Gaikwad said, ‘Maxwell batted brilliantly. At one point he needed 50 runs in three overs and then playing such an innings to win is commendable. The fourth match of the series will be played in Raipur on Friday. Glenn Maxwell was adjudged Man of the Match for his strong innings.
