Suryakumar Yadav was on Monday named as the captain of the Indian team for the five-match T20 international series against Australia to be held in Visakhapatnam from November 23. In the absence of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav has been given the command of the young team. Only three players who are part of World Cup 2023 will be seen playing in this series. Only three players included in the World Cup squad for the T20 series have been selected, including Ishan Krishna, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar. On the eve of the first T20 match, captain Suryakumar Yadav has asked the Indian team to play fearless cricket in the upcoming T20 series against Australia.
The first match of the five-match T20 series between India and Australia will be played on Thursday (November 22) at Dr. Visakhapatnam. Will be played at YS Stadium. Rajasekhar Reddy will be played at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. India will begin their campaign for the upcoming T20 World Cup in West Indies and America.
Suryakumar Yadav said in a press conference, “With the T20 World Cup in mind, the matches we are going to play are very important. I have clearly said to play fearlessly and do what can help the team. He has done in IPL and played a lot of domestic cricket.
“He’s in good form, that’s what I’ve heard from our support staff,” he said. I told him only one thing. Go in between and have fun, do the same things, don’t do anything different. At the end of the day, this is a cricket match.
Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad will play the role of vice-captain in the first three matches of the series. Middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer will join the team for the last two matches in Raipur and Bengaluru and will shoulder the responsibility of vice-captain in these matches. Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman will be the head coach of the team for this series.
