A playing eleven may look like this:
Opening pair- Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill
The pair have performed brilliantly in the current tournament and have set a platform for India with a quick and good start. While the Indian captain has scored 550 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 124.15, Gill has scored 350 runs in eight innings at an average of 50.00. Apart from this, there have been a total of seven half-centuries and a century partnership between them.
Middle Order: Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav
Virat Kohli has crossed the 50-run mark eight times in 10 innings in the ICC World Cup 2023. His record-breaking innings against New Zealand in the last match was his third century of the tournament. Overall, the right-handed batsman has scored 711 runs at an average of 101.57.
Shreyas Iyer has performed brilliantly at number-4. His last four innings were 105, 128*, 77 and 82. The onus will once again rest on Iyer’s shoulders to perform well.
Wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul has done brilliantly behind the stumps. He has 15 catches and one stumping in 10 matches so far. Rahul has scored 386 runs at an average of 77.20.
After this is Suryakumar Yadav. Who has disappointed everyone with his performance so far. He has contributed just 88 runs in six innings.
All-rounder- Ravindra Jadeja
Talking about the all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja’s place is assured, having taken 16 wickets in 10 matches with an economy of 4.25. Apart from this, he has not got much opportunity to bat, but he has taken some great catches while fielding.
According to the nature of the pitch, R Ashwin is also in the race for the playing XI. Because he can prove dangerous for Australia on this ground. However, there is little hope that the team will make a major decision regarding the management change.
Bowlers: Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj
The fast bowling trio of Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj have been instrumental in India’s brilliant performance. Bumrah and Siraj played an important role in the powerplay overs with 31 wickets in this tournament.
Mohammed Shami is making waves. He has taken 23 wickets in the tournament, including three five-wicket hauls. In the last match against New Zealand, he took 7 wickets for 57 runs. This is the best bowling performance by an Indian in ODIs. While Kuldeep Yadav has so far taken 15 wickets at an economy rate of 4.32.
However, the team management is unlikely to make any changes to the playing eleven for the final match and Rohit Sharma might go with the same playing eleven he fielded last time against the Black Caps.
India’s Probable Playing XI: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Siraj.
