Indian team’s young wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan has decided to withdraw from the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa. He explained the reason behind this to the team management and the BCCI expelled him from the tour for personal reasons and announced his replacement. However, now the real reason behind Ishaan Kishan’s ouster has come out, which is a bit disturbing. In fact, Ishan Kishan was constantly with the Indian team and got the chance to play when the regulars were not available, he was mentally exhausted due to not being sure of a place in the team and therefore decided to rest. Decided to opt out of the Test series against South Africa.
According to an Indian Express report, Ishan Kishan had requested the Indian team management last week to allow him to take a break, as he has been touring with the team for the past one year. The team management spoke to the selectors and agreed to Ishaan.
According to the report, “He told the team management that he was feeling mentally exhausted and wanted to take a break from cricket for some time.” Everyone agreed with that.” The Indian board had earlier issued a press release citing ‘personal reasons’ for Kishan’s absence from the upcoming Test series.
Ishan Kishan was part of the Indian team from 3 January 2023. He was constantly involved with the team and rarely got a break. He got a chance to play two matches in the ODI World Cup. Because Shubman Gill could not play due to dengue. He then played three T20 matches against Australia in which he scored two fifties.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement, “Ishan Kishan has requested the BCCI to release him for the upcoming Test series against South Africa due to personal reasons.” So this wicketkeeper has been dropped from the Test team. The men’s selection committee has replaced him with KS Bharat.
