India scored 245 runs in the first innings on the second day of the first cricket test against South Africa with the help of a brilliant century by Indian team wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul. This is KL Rahul’s second century in South Africa and eighth century in Test cricket. Sunil Gavaskar has become a fan of KL Rahul’s century innings. He has called this innings as the best innings in Indian Test history.
Lokesh Rahul scored the highest 101 runs for India while Virat Kohli played an innings of 38 runs. For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada took five wickets and Andre Berger took three wickets. Sunil Gavaskar said, “Having watched cricket for 50 years, I can definitely say that this century by KL Rahul is one of the top 10 innings in the history of Indian Test cricket.”
India started today with a score of 208 runs for eight wickets. Koitz gave India their ninth blow in the morning session by sending Mohammad Siraj to the pavilion caught by Vereen for five. After this, Rahul completed his eighth Test century by hitting a six off Coetzee. In the 68th over, Berger bowled KL Rahul for 101 and ended India’s first innings at 245 runs.
This is Rahul’s second century in Centurions. In 2021, Rahul scored a century in a Test match on the same ground. This is the eighth century of KL Rahul’s Test career. Apart from this, he has also scored 14 half-centuries. His best score is 199 runs. He has been defeated three times in his Test career. He has played 48 Tests so far and has scored 2,717 runs in 82 innings at an average of over 34.
