A senior BCCI official told News18’s source, ‘Virat Kohli was already not going to play intra-squad matches. The team management was aware of his planned tour. This is not something that happened overnight or because of a family emergency. Look at the player we are talking about, that is Virat Kohli. He is very well organized when it comes to these things. His visit to London was well informed and planned.

Trained before going to London

The official said, ‘Kohli left India for South Africa on December 15. He had 3-4 good practice sessions before leaving for London on 19 December. He was in London for the next few days and has now been included in the Test squad and will be involved in all. Training is likely to take place at Centurion tomorrow.
