Ahead of the India vs New Zealand match, veteran Ross Taylor has praised Tom Latham-led New Zealand’s strong performance in the World Cup 2023. But he has warned the Kiwi team that the Indian team is very strong at home and whatever the outcome of the match, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team will be strong contenders to win the title. The match between India and New Zealand will be played in Dharamshala on Sunday. Both teams are unbeaten in the tournament, having won four matches each and have eight points. However, New Zealand topped the points table thanks to a good net run rate.

Former New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor was quoted by the ICC in its special column as saying, “I arrived in India on Friday and it’s great to be here in time for a great match between two unbeaten teams.” I was really impressed with New Zealand’s performance. He has performed brilliantly. The first match was a surprise to me, not to beat England but the way they did it.

He said, “Everyone has done well at different stages. Much was said about the injuries of Tim Southee and Kane Williamson but those who replaced them, especially Will Young and Rachin Ravindra, performed well. India are a distinct threat at home and have made a surprisingly strong start. Whatever happens tomorrow in Dharamsala, at this stage I see him as a contender to win the tournament.

India suffered a seven-wicket defeat against England in their first match at this ground in January 2013, while Sri Lanka beat them by the same margin in their last match played in December 2017.
