Pooja Vastrakar dismissed 4 of Australia’s 6 main batsmen. Sneh Rana took 3 wickets and Deepti Sharma took 2 wickets. Australia’s top scorer was Tahila McGrath.
The Indian women’s cricket team gets very few opportunities to play Test matches. She is playing only her second Test match in the year 2023. But the performance of the women’s team shows that they can do better if given more opportunities. The women’s team has beaten England just a week ago and now they are all set to take on Australia.
The Test match between the Indian women’s team and the Australian women’s team began on Thursday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Australian captain Alyssa Healy won the toss and elected to bat first, but the team did not like it. By the time Australia scored 7 runs, India had lost two wickets.
Number four Tahila McGrath (50) showed an aggressive attitude and tried to mislead the Indian attack. He played an innings of 50 runs in 56 balls. Tahila McGrath shared an 80-run partnership with opener Beth Mooney (40) for the third wicket. Sneh Rana was caught out by Rajeshwari Gaekwad to end Tahila’s innings. Alyssa Healy, who came to bat at number five, also played a brilliant innings of 38 runs. But no other batsman of the visiting team could last long against the Indian bowlers.
