Blinken in Israel
The announcement comes hours after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Israel on Wednesday night amid growing pressure to extend the ceasefire.
According to Israeli officials, the cease-fire agreement brings a temporary halt to the conflict that began on October 7 when Hamas militants crossed the military border into Gaza and entered Israel. The attacks killed 1,200 people, most of them civilians. Apart from this, around 240 people were abducted.
