Israel is facing one of the worst attacks in its 75-year history (the Israeli-Palestinian conflict). Israel has been fighting a 19-day war with the Palestinian organization Hamas. Many families have been destroyed in this war. Many children have lost their lives in Hamas attacks. Infrastructure is being destroyed. In the midst of the war, a mother and son were cremated together. Hamas fighters attacked from the Gaza Strip last week. Both were killed in this attack.

Avida Carmel’s family was destroyed in a Hamas attack on October 7. He was preceded in death by his 15-year-old son, Carmel Bacher, and wife, Dana. While Avida was seriously injured in the war and lost his leg. On Tuesday, the family and relatives performed the last rites of mother and son together. The boy was buried with his favorite toy, a surfboard. Avida, sitting in a wheelchair, waved off his wife and son, holding the Israeli flag. More than 100 people attended the funeral.
On the morning of October 7, Hamas fired more than 5,000 rockets from the Gaza Strip into Israel within minutes. Hamas fighters also attacked from tunnels. More than 6,500 people on both sides have been killed in the war so far. Hamas has taken more than 150 people hostage. Since then, Israel has been retaliating against the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, a senior Hamas leader, Khaled Meshaal, said on Tuesday that he would release those held by Israel only when attacks on Gaza stop. Meshaal also said that 22 hostages have been killed so far in the Israeli attack.
