In fact, in his reaction to micro-blogging website owner Piyush Goyal’s post about his visit to the Tesla factory, Elon Musk said he was honored by the Indian minister’s visit and looked forward to meeting him in the future.
Sharing pictures of Tesla’s state-of-the-art factory in Fremont, Piyush Goyal wrote, “Visited Tesla’s state-of-the-art manufacturing factory in Fremont, California…saw talented Indian engineers and finance professionals working at senior positions and being a part of Tesla’s amazing journey.” Nice to see you contributing…”

News agency Reuters has quoted sources as saying that Tesla is continuously trying to set up a factory in India, which aims to produce cars priced at US $ 24,000 (approximately Rs 19,96,189) in the country itself.
Piyush Goyal’s visit is very important, as there have been reports that the Indian government is considering giving Tesla a customs duty exemption to set up a factory in India. Piyush Goyal said in September that Tesla is going to buy about US $1.9 billion (about ₹158.03 billion) of components from India this year, compared to US $1 billion (about ₹83.17 billion) in 2022.
In August 2021, Elon Musk said that if Tesla is successful with imported vehicles in India, it may start a manufacturing factory in India itself. He said that Tesla wants to launch its vehicles in India, “but the import duty there is the highest of any major country in the world…!”
